We've lived in Greenville for about 3 years now, and have not been able to find a church that just 'fits' us. It needs to be close to us (we live in the Welcome Community, off White Horse, near Easley Bridge & Anderson Rds, about 10 minutes from Downtown) We loved Brushy Creek in Taylors, but it's over a half hour drive away, and is impractible, as we couldn't be very active & have a home life. We tried Welcome Baptist, and loved it, only it's a little more traditional (oldschool hymns and older families), so here's what we are looking for:

1) Bible-based & on Fire!
2) Family-oriented
3) Non-judgemental (in today's economy, we are pay-check to paycheck, but Blessed enough to Trust in God to provide our needs, and feeling like the "poor orphans" or "lost cause" or just plain old "charity case" is not gonna work for us - and, honestly does it really work for anyone when you feel bad that you're better off, or we feel bad because all the group's activities cost money that we need for living? Sorry for the mini-rant, but it's happened, and it hurts us and makes our children question how Christians are really supposed to be)
4) Not tiny, but not huge, congregation-wise (we're both, my husband & I, a little anxious in crowds, especially if the crowd is less than welcoming in the first place)
5) Has interests in the community at large (I work with Special Needs adults, and would LOVE a church that has a Special Needs ministry!)
6) The above mentioned Special Needs Ministry, as well as other ministries to help us grow (also my son is on the Autism spectrum, and if he's not welcome, then neither are we!)

I know we may never find the "perfect" church - there is none, but if anyone knows of something that's a pretty close fit, please let me know!
Thanks & God Bless!

I am a member of Earle Street Baptist Church on Earle Street between Randall Street and Wilton Street. It's about 3 blocks from Rutherford St and you can enter from Earle St or Stone Ave. It's a very welcoming and diverse congregation. It's a traditional worship service, so if you are looking for a contemporary worship service, you will not find that here. You can check out the website where you can read or listen to past sermons. Our services are at 9:15 and 10:30 with dual Sunday schools meeting at 9:15 and 10:30. We average about 350 per Sunday split between the 2 services. The website is Earle Street Baptist Church Greenville, SC . Good luck in your search!

We have friends who live in your area. They attend Tremont on 123. They love it. I know there are many family activities they do. I do not know on the other info.

Our church has a downtown campus, and they have a special needs ministry. It's Bible-based, contemporary praise and worship, casual atmosphere, etc. We are also very involved in the local community, as well as other areas. Check it out at Grace Church. Good luck with your search!

Seacoast has been mentioned more than once here but I just looked at their website and they don't have a special needs ministry. I don't live their yet but will keep an eye on your search since I will be shopping myself in the future.
