I didn't see lighting in the plans but I may have just missed it or SCDOT plans to do on their own. Solar panels are specified for the traffic monitoring system boxes (road sensors) which that style is already being used along portions of the interstate.

Construction is progressing. Along Chrome Dr.(Frontage Rd on Google?) behind Harley Davidson (adjacent to i85 N side) a fair number of trees have been removed. Looks like the new or temporary Chrome Dr. beside the old Honda shop is being built as well (I think Chrome Dr. will be cut off behind HD by 85 widening, or at least during construction). Barriers have been placed along i385 S at the Woodruff Rd interchange and they have removed the brush/trees between i385 S on-ramp and i385 S.

Feb2016 - Looking down onto i385 S from Woodruff overpass:

Feb2016 - Looking across i385 from N off-ramp for Woodruff Rd, barriers are on the i385 S side:

Someone mentioned funding on this project or some of the other ones, but for the i85/385 interchange project funding is as follows:
Federal Highway Administration (70%)
South Carolina Infrastructure Bank (10%)
GPATS (10%)
Act 98 of 2013 (10%)
Funding Source: http://www.85385gateway.com/faq.aspx#funding

Woodruff Road is already gridlocked on the weekends. Would anybody even notice if a lane is closed or not? lol.

I think Woodruff Rd is probably busier on the weekends. They ought to close those lanes more on days like Monday-Wednesdays or something.

LOLOL. Here we go. Let the moaning and griping begin. Folks complain because the roads are not being improved and worked on and same when they are under construction.

I don't believe anyone is moaning and griping, but lane closures anytime during the weekends on Woodruff Rd will be an issue. I don't see why it's a problem pointing this out. At the very least, I felt it appropriate to post the lane closure schedule here as an FYI.

I am guessing whoever decided these closures doesn't actually frequent that area on a weekend. If they did they know closing lanes on Woodruff would impact traffic on I385 and potentially I85. There are already problems with the off ramps backing up to the point were they impede traffic flow on 385. Closing lanes will just make this problem worse. Closing between say 10AM-4PM on weekday would actually have less of an impact than closing lanes on the weekend.

Dear SCDOT, if you have an extra scoop of asphalt, can you toss it into the large chuck hole on the entrance ramp to I-85N from I-385N that's been there for weeks and is growing?

My car thanks you...

You can report potholes here:
Maintenance Work Request

If they don't repair a pothole within a couple of days after they are notified, the state is required to pay for damage to your car.
