Another house question, up north in PA, all homes have gutters on all sides, is it normal in South carolina to only have gutters on the front of the house and not the rear or sides, have looked at a number of new developments and this was the same at all ?
I wouldn't say it is normal but new home builders, particularly those mass building spec homes will leave off gutters to save some money. Our last house in NC had no gutters installed by the builder which caused water to drain off the roof onto the deck. That water then splashed onto the patio door. The sill on that door was made of untreated pine and quickly rotted.
The cost to replace the door could have paid for the gutters several times over.
Yes, builders leave them out to save money. You think they'd be required and part of the inspection.
