Not sure if you're talking about attractions or advertising, but Greenville's 1-yr old marketing scheme is "Yeah, that Greenville". There were some pretty interesting numbers recently in one of the business journals on the tourism jump in the past 12 months. As far as attractions, Greenville's focus is downtown and the great natural setting of the foothills.

Charlotte and Charleston has many things scattered throughout surrounding areas. Beyond downtown, Greenville does not have much. There is a need to create more focal points to draw in people.

What would you like to see?
Some great assets Greenville has are top-tier college athletics at Clemson, hiking, lakes, a greenway/trail system other cities would kill for, zip lining, and a really nice arts scene. Greenville is really built for the local, but we are seeing a greater number of visitors each year. More things could be added, but there are certain things i would rather not see come if they're strictly geared toward tourists (Myrtle Beach). If you've got the money, I hear the BMW driving experience is a lot of fun. The factory tour is pretty decent.
Not sure too many people who are not associated with the school want to travel to Clemson, 30 miles from Greenville.
But, Greenville is a good place for day trips. I know of a few people in Charlotte who have traveled down and enjoyed the Main St area. I have heard a lot of good reviews from folks making day or weekend trips. From an arts perspective, Greenville does not stand out much.
The BMW driving experience is awesome. It is like a day long ride a Carowinds that you don't have to get off.
And, it is good to see folks from towns visiting neighboring cities. There are many in Charlotte who visit Columbia, Greenville, Asheville, Boone, Blowing Rock, Raleigh etc....for day/weekend trips.
The arts in Greenville is actually really good for a metro of its size. You don't have to recognize that for it to be true. The Baroque art collection at the M&G is one of the best and largest outside Europe. They also have a good old masters' collection.
