I am starting to get very concerned with this system.

Yeah, but they said this was supposed to hit at about 9am.

It was very.. Sneaky. that was the problem.

We never really got rain.. It was a slight mist that was just enough to not even cause a layer of ice, but just enough to ice over roads.. So, I saw several people gunning it at about 60 down 385.. Then you'd see the back end slide a bit, and all of a sudden they slowed way down.

Cops were all over the 385 bridge at N Pleasantburg right around 7pm.. Not sure if that was responding to the accident where the trooper was hit, or if they just closed the bridge... Anyone who tried to come down Villa to Pleasantburg or Century to Pleasantburg is an idiot. Both places have horribly steep hills. Villa isn't as bad so far as the hill, but it has that bad curve.

They show that we're supposed to be above freezing within 2 hours, and in the 40's by 1am. So, all should be well for the morning drive. In fact, here in Gray Court, it shows as 33 now.

I don't think much happened here in Tigerville. Chicken Little was on WYFF all night predicting dire conditions, especially up our way, but I looked out at 3 AM, and it was just wet. I don't think the heavy ice ever materialized here. My wife went into work this AM with no problems.

I was coming to work this morning at 5:30, temps were 37. People driving so slow on 385/85 it almost caused accidents. So you either get people driving too fast when it's below 32 or driving too slow when it's not freezing.

very weird storm - forecasts/modeling were way off for the Upstate - if any precip had materialized yesterday, Upstate commuters would have had a horrible drive home

There were over a hundred wrecks, including a fatal one on Pleasantburg and Villa Rd. Saw at least a dozen cars either spinning out or spun out on the side of the road around 6:30 pm. A pickup truck going too fast spun out right in front of me, went across both lanes of traffic. He was very lucky.

yes, maybe I should clarify, there was no significant precip prior to 5pm - I drove from Duncan, SC to the city of Greenville at 5:30pm - no problems - after dusk, precip moved rapidly in from GA while the temps remained below freezing - thankfully, Greenville rose above freezing around 1-2 am this morning

all models/forecasts had wintry precip falling during day yesterday - I only saw a trace, with no road problems

I can understand breaking in with the weather during a commercial break but interrupting the entire broadcast for several hours for 1/4" or less of ice is insane. I've quit watching channel 4 for winter weather because they are such a ridiculous hype machine.

I'll just say it even though I may get backlash...

Southerners do not know how to drive in snowy conditions and that's why most of the wrecks occurred. Compared to northern drivers who experience BAD snowstorms, us Yankees know to drive slow and if you hit ice, do not brake. Unless those involved in the hundreds of wrecks are just stupid and don't know how to operate a vehicle, but I bet my life many people were speeding.

Also, I can't stand seeing people comment about "people should have stayed home." As many have said, this system came out of nowhere and many drivers were forced to drive home in it. I had to drive from Pelham to Wade Hampton in Greer and passed two accidents. And people were FLYING on the roads. This was around 6:30pm and personally, I didn't think the roads were too bad as I drove slow.
