Hi! We would appreciate any advice you have for us northerners that are relocating south for a job in Greenville possibly. We must be in an area with great public schools. We have a fifth and seventh grader that are into sports. We are looking to move into a new construction home in a community that is a family friendly and welcoming to newcomers. We would love to be In an area with great restaurants and possibly walking distance would be awesome. What towns/neighborhoods do you recommend? We are also runners and would love to be near running trails if possible. We don't want to back up to highways!
Prorities
1. Great public schools (Middle & High)
2. Family friendly city in the Greenville area
3. New construction home in a community with kids
4. Low crime rate

Thanks so much in advance for all your great advice!

Welcome, CTTOSCNC! I would say that all of the the new construction neighborhoods here are full of trasnsplants and very welcoming to newcomers and families. When I talk to people in your situation Simpsonvlle is the first place that comes to mind; tons of new construction and new families. However, you are unlikely to be able to walk to anything there and I would say that is true for most of the neighborhoods elsewhere in the area.
What is your price range?

For schools info, you mght find it helpful to go to Report Cards - South Carolina Department of Education.

Well if you don't mind small lots you might want to take a look at the new Ryan homes development in Verdae in Greenville :New Homes for sale at Hollingsworth Park At Verdae in Greenville, SC.
The development abuts Legacy Park, which is very pretty and popular with families and dog owners. The Swamp Rabbit Trail, Greenville's walking/biking trail, will be extended to the Verdae area, hopefully very soon. In addition, there is planned residential and commercial development on Laurens Road which will connect to both the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Legacy Park, so that opens up the possibility to walking to some shops and restaurants, in addition to the ones that will hopefully soon be coming to Hollingsworth Park itself.

Verdae is also across from a nice golf course, and there are some tennis courts there. You really can't beat that location.

Thanks for that suggestion. I looked into Hollingsworth Park at Verdae and it appears there are other neighborhoods w/in the Verdae Community. Is that correct? If so, why would you recommend this one over any of the others. Wish they had a lot plan online.

Thanks Simpsonvillian - My husband is a golfer so he'd love that!

CTTOSCNC the reason I mentioned the Ryan homes community is for two reasons- thee are no lots left in the other neighborhoods, and even the resales are now all above $500K. If you would be willing to go that high there is one very custom, beautiful home for sale in Ruskin Square. It is just a couple of years old but looks brand new.
