'In the coming months, work is expected to begin on a $2.5 million project of street improvements in the urbanized area outside city limits — widened sidewalks, decorative lights, landscaped roadsides, utilities moved from view, all paid for by Greenville County.'
I wonder how long the City of Greenville may extend its limits by annexing northward along the Poinsett Highway corridor.
The first annexation will take in the home of the gigantic Pawn sign! The owner will probably then set up shop outside the new border and put up an even larger sign.

I could see Greenville County becoming strict like the City of Greenville on regulating which business locate along Poinsett Highway.
I don't know why that area would support annexation if the County of Greenville is paying for all this streetscaping work.
Annexation could be an option if the City of Greenville wanted to increase its population and area. The negative would be paying more for services already provided by Greenville County.
