Ok here are my yearly averages for 2017. This is in a 1100 sf 1950s ranch. There is blown in insulation in the attic and a HVAC unit replaced in the last 5 years. Water $27.13/month Electric $45.98 Gas $36.08. These are averages so yes I've seen some $120 electric or gas bills, but I've also seen $30 electric or $14 gas bills.

My last CPW bill was $207, but this includes electricity, gas and water.

Anyone buying an existing home, you can call the electric company and ask what the average bill is over so many months. When I bought my home, I forgot to do it when I was negotiating and didn't do it until right before closing. I almost backed out when I found out the previous owners, 2 elderly people, had over a $400 bill the month before. Old unit, which was replaced before closing definitely made a difference!

Fantastic idea! Is Duke Energy the provider for everyone in the area?

No, CPW, Laurens and Blue Ridge are 3 others besides Duke, I believe.

The immediate area of Greenville would be Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and Greenville Water. For us, 1900+ sq ft brick/plaster wall ranch style built in late 60s with partially shaded lot. New HVAC 3.5 ton with gas heat. New R8 insulation on duct work under home and R30 insulation in attic. August - Electricity $126.91/Gas (for heating water) $16.44 (setting around 70-71) and January - Electricity $75.57/Gas (for water and heat) $86.12 (setting 64-65 during day and 62 at night) but we use heated mattress pads for sleeping in the cold of the winter and don't mind putting on a sweat jacket or robe to stay warm while up and about.

My bills were not any higher. My new windows have made a huge difference. I also purchased one of those attic door insulation tents. I can now open the door to the attic and feel absolutely no cold air.

My Bill from Duke today from Dec-15 to Jan-18 cycle is $412. Home is 1700sq/ft all electric ranch style home build in 2006 in Fountain Inn, Sc. Either something is wrong with my meter or I am doing something wrong. Duke just recently switch out our meter to the "Smart" meters. But I don't know what is going on. The recent cold snap shouldn't really hit me this hard. My thermostat is set at 65f.
