It looks like the Greenville County Council is putting the brakes on another development in Five Forks. The cries are getting louder from residents about infrastructure not keeping pace with development. And this comes after the council also nixed new development in the Garlington Rd. area recently.

The fact that development has continued this long in Five Forks with little to no improvement in road capacity is shameful. The flip side is that home costs will surge as new home construction is stalled.

That’s disappointing.

I know this will be an incredibly unpopular idea, but if they designed all neighborhoods so traffic could pass through, there wouldn't be such a problem with new neighborhoods burdening the existing roads. Instead, new neighborhoods would add usable roads.

It's a problem where everybody wants to live on a street but nobody wants other cars on their street.

If you mean not letting developers create a bunch of cul-de-sacs that only have access to one major thoroughfare, then I agree. That's a problem with commercial development too, and the reason that the new tie-in road is being built behind Target parallel to Woodruff.

In this case however, the developer was going to improve Philips McCall Rd., which is a loop. But it still doesn't mitigate the traffic it would impose on Anderson Ridge/Reidville/Roper Mountain roads.

The intersection at SC296 and Anderson Ridge desperately needs improvements. At the very least they need redo the light so only one direction of traffic on Anderson Ridge goes at a time. Trying to turn left off Anderson Ridge is impossible at certain times of day.

In other words, expect homes to get even more expensive and less afforable: https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/u...--finance.html Good job Greenville County. Continue to contribute to the low inventory and high prices.

Maybe build smaller more affordable SFD’S in areas where the congestion isn’t so bad. Oh, no one wants to send their children to Spartanburg/ Lauren’s County schools. An hour to go 12 miles is unacceptable. Infrastructure is beyond stressed in the Five Forks area. Most of the roads in the area are goat paths

Don’t live or travel to Five Forks then if you hate the traffic.
