Is there a resource that might give me an idea of the different neighborhoods that make up Greenville?
We plan on renting on the Eastside to start, but I would like to get to know the whole area better. Unfortunately, a lot of literature, visitors guides, etc., tends to focus on either Downtown, the historic areas that surround Downtown, or the same handful of suburbs (e.g. Simpsonville, TR, Greer, and Taylors).
I would like to get a better knowledge of the neighborhoods inside of Greenville, and the small/former mill towns that are immediately west of the City. That isn't to say that I find anything wrong with the aforementioned areas ; but one of the issues about moving to a new area, is the unfamiliarity that comes along with it, and I would like to get a better feel for the area as a whole.
In Charlotte, a little digging will reveal a City of neighborhoods, and their whereabouts. I haven't found a similar resource for Greenville.
Fairly new to the area as well, but maybe this will be helpful, at least for the city of Greenville? For the outlying towns you will likely have to perform independent searches relative to the areas of interest.
Debatable, as Greenville is doing a good job of renewing areas.
Yes, the West End and the Village of west Greenville are so much different from when I moved here! I think it will take time but those area willl continue to grow and change. I was just telling a friend of mine who is moving here to buy in/near the Village of west Greenville because of all the up and coming projects there.

The same thing is happened in the Sans Souci area too. Some of those small homes are selling for over $200,000. Crazy good!
Absolutely a questionable blanket statement about thousands of good people that live on the west side of Greenville.

Wow, reading comprehension must be tough. Please speak to the next GCSO deputy you see if you are doubting my claims. I've had one deputy go as far as comparing the majority of areas in western Greenville to those you would expect to find in Atlanta, Chicago, or Detroit.

I had a friend that lives in Thornblade to have his SUV broken into and his golf clubs stolen. I know folks in Sugar Creek that tell me about drug issues in the neighborhood. Crime happens in low income and high income areas. Crime happens in all areas of Greenville County. Those that want to do bad things don't care about demographics.
