Hi everyone. I'm moving down to South Carolina soon to the Greenville area. I'm still searching for reasonably priced apartments or homes for rent. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Looking for a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom. Pet friendly. Preferably washer/dryer included.
I've been on the search as we want to rent a home when our apartment lease expires. I will be very upfront with you....there are very few pickings for rental homes in Greenville for under 1000.00 - especially pet friendly.
I have visited a few properties just over that price range thru Rently (mostly in West Greenville) and all of them were quite lacking, and I don't recall any of them having a washer/dryer included. Just hookups.
What I consider "decent" (doesn't have to be new or gigantic, just clean and relatively up to date) is generally in the 1200-1600 range. And even that price doesn't yield a lot of leads as we have two kitties.
Not to say it is impossible to find what you need, but it will be a tough go in a market as hot as Greenville.
I did a lot of research a couple of years ago before I moved here (evaluating various complexes based on my criteria), and I'm currently looking for a new apartment for a move in late winter. West of downtown - a lot of sketchy areas; near downtown - too expensive. You're more likely to find a 1BR at the upper end of that price range on the east side, or in one of the surrounding communities mentioned by others. Problem is - prices are going up quickly around here. You're more likely to find an apartment in an older complex that isn't "luxury" in that range. And most complexes around here don't include a washer and dryer - you have to bring your own or rent them (there are places to rent appliances around here).
Here's my list of places I'll be checking out (or rechecking) over the next couple of months - some have 1BRs under or around $1000, others have 2BRs in that price range or under $1100. They meet most of my requirements for location, amenities, safety, etc. and the monthly rents reported online are in the right ballpark.

If I'd known housing costs were skyrocketing as fast as they are here in Greenville, I might have reconsidered my decision to move here. And I might be priced out of the housing market in Greenville in a year or so since I'm retired - which would mean moving to a surrounding community like Greer and longer commutes to shopping, church, etc. You have a lot of trashy rentals at the low end, and a lot of luxury apartments at the top but not a lot of nice affordable places in between.
I created it many years ago but I try to update it anytime I go looking for a place for a friend or family member. Its got property management companies all around here on it.
