I am craving a basket of hand-battered, fried-to-perfection onion rings. Of all the places to eat around here, certainly somebody has some really good ones. I just don't know where to start.
Any suggestions? I haven't had an intense craving for a food like this in years!
I am an onion ring connoisseur. Trust me. Try the onion rings at The Clock on Congaree Road. Get in your car and drive there right now!
I agree that they are worth waiting for on special occasions (I can't eat greasy foods as often as I once did).
On a side note, I'd love to know of places around the Upstate that offer good fried okra. My benchmark is Soul Fish Cafe in Memphis. The closest recipe/method I've found in the Upstate is the Big Clock of Powdersville.

Is Big Clock and The Clock the same thing, because I know of multiple The Clocks in Spartanburg, Anderson, and Greenville and know of Big Clocks in Berea part of Greenville, and Powdersville? Or am I just confused.
If it is different, what is the difference?
i think many are differently owned. Big Clock of Berea and Powdersville are same owners I believe.
