Compared to Columbia, Macon, Augusta, or Savannah which city is the best and worst as far as living there. I am with a company that has openings for me in either of these citys so I want a good city that I dont want to regret moving to. What are the pros and cons of these areas? Which city will be as nice as the upstate in the next 5 years are so? Which city is more run down? I know this area is nicer than any of these areas but I want to pick the city that is moving in this direction. I love minor league sports so which city has more stable teams that wont pack up and leave me stuck with out sports?

Here is a timely editorial (broken link) from Columbia indicating that pro sports may be completely on their way of town for awhile.

So do you not have the choice to stay in the Upstate? I don't see any of these cities being as nice as the Upstate within the next five years. Considering each has a different geography and climate, you may want to begin by deciding which of those is most appealing to you. I am sure it is possible to live happily in any of these cities, but I haven't enough firsthand knowledge to provide a truly accurate overall comparison between them.

I personally like Columbia better than I like Augusta. I don't know much about Macon, but I think its a bit smaller.
