I wonder if it is going to be one of their new Popshelf stores? They started doing a few dual brand ones with DG also. https://www.popshelf.com/

The Dollar General at West Georgia and Hwy 25 is opening soon. Typical flat roof brown box one. They slapped that ugly prefab looking building up in no time.

First National Bank where the old Bojangles was next to Krispy Kreme.

A Korean BBQ and hotpot place is going into the new strip next to Fudduckers.

Pizza Hut going in front of Hobby Lobby next to NTB in the former payday loan/RadioShack building. No idea if that means anything for the sit down location in Five Forks.
Got curious about the Korean BBQ and Hotpot place and found the franchise. Yep, this is coming to both Columbia and Greenville. Looks great!

No mention of PopShelf on the signage.

Family Dollar was trying to locate at the corner of 14 and 101 in Gray Court. I'm sure they would have done the same thing. I believe the rezoning of that lot was defeated, but not positive. I certainly hope so.

The old Dollar General has been vacant since they moved into the old Walmart Neighborhood Market that closed down after running all the other stores that were left in town off. they want to locate here, they can take over that building.

But, speaking of Dollar General.. Holy hell have those gone to hell. Bare shelves, nasty, nasty, nasty.. I stopped at the one in Laurens which gets robbed about every other week and the floors were just a sticky mess.

I know Dollar General doesn't pay to keep people there, but.. They need to pay enough to keep customers wanting to come back, and I saw no reason to go back.

Happy to see it is at least aesthetically pleasing.

Agree! Any DG that could be confused for a doctor's office is a win, strangely enough. lol

Yes different and unusual for them. There is a similar all brick one with actual landscaping around it outside of my friends neighborhood in Charlotte. They have strict zoning in the area.

I also went into one last week and couldn't believe the mess it was in (Whole aisles roped off and closed and blocked with boxes due to overflow from stock room, empty shelves) It was really a hazard trying to walk through. The one employee said she was on loan from another store. Total waste of time trying to find something there.

That's a big reason I don't stop very often. Seems like the same thing is happening to Dollar Tree, which at one time it was the "premium" dollar store brand.

I find that Goodwill is more organized than DG.

Combination Family Dollar/Dollar Tree going in in Hickory Tavern. Its the strangest building I've seen, Red Stripe on one side for family dollar and Green on the other for Dollar Tree with a single entry door in the middle.
