Husband and I are looking to move out of CA. Sight unseen, Greenville keeps coming up as a good candidate -- professionally, recreationally, geographically, you name it.
We would love to live downtown. We looked at few real estate websites for properties just to get a feel for the area but, really, how much of a feel could we get from looking at pictures and, quite honestly, ads intended to sell one on the idea. So. We need the real deal. Local feedback.
If you live or have lived in the area:
(1) Where are the best places to live if a married, active thirty-something couple (no kids) would like to live downtown? What's appealing about these areas?
(2) How much should we reasonably expect to pay? Is it a buyers or sellers market at this time? Are some areas overpriced?
Generally, we am looking for a way that we can narrow down our search. We are planning on having a scouting trip in the next few months and want to figure out how to best lay out our plans.
Any suggestions -- on the downtown areas, views on pricing, planning the scouting trip -- will be appreciated! TIA.

I am not sure how much condos or homes go for in downtown-like areas. Husband wants a condo. I am open to homes, even older ones. We would both like the downtown access-to-most-things experience.
Check out the North Main area north of downtown and the Augusta Road area south of downtown for homes in your range. Check out these websites for condos in the downtown area-
Have you checked out www.greatergreenville.com (http://www.greatergreenville.com - broken link). There is some good info on there as well and if you will do a google search & put in greenville sc it will have info for newcomers as well as info on the historic district, downtown, etc. Hope this helps.
These are all very helpful links. Thank you. This will help me get a start in the right direction.
