Wow, they have REALLY updated the crime incident mapping system - you can see stuff going on right now [locations, nature of crime]

And I have always heard West Greenville and there it is on the map lit up bigtime with current calls.

Not sure what "overall pleasantness of the news" means, but I can say that since moving here 2 and a half years ago I've found that a nightly news report that doesn't include at least one murder is a rarity.

From what I've seen, when watching the news most of the stores about any type of shootings, stabbings, etc... happen in the Spartanburg area. As someone I know says, "If we didn't have Spartanburg, we wouldn't have news." :-/ I'm coming from Cincinnati, OH and Greenville seems a lot better than up there just comparing the local news headlines.
