The Upstate's latest waterpark is finally under construction (http://greenvillerec.com/waterpark-at-northside - broken link) at the Greenville County Recreation District's Northside Park. I visited the other day because I hadn't seen the park in several years. The grading equipment was out, the land was cleared and nearly ready for construction to begin. This will be a great addition to the park system, especially for the many residents in the northern portion of Greenville County. The waterpark is expected to be open to the public by summer 2010.

I'm assuming that the hospitality tax is the tax local hotels add to guests bills. I am surprised that that money would be used for something like this. I worked for many years for a convention and visitors bureau and the hotel tax funded the CVB. Then again, the Traverse City CVB was not part of local govt. Maybe the one here is?

Actually, most of the people out here don't want this waterpark the way it is planned. We were happy with a pool that everyone could swim in - not a kiddie pool. Leave the development on the Eastside. We moved out here to avoid all of that crap.

Wonder if it will be patterned after the existing water park at another county park in Simpsonville?

Beautiful area, great place to raise kids, cheap real estate, great family values; growth is inevitable.
