Hmmm....that's odd, since SW execs spent two week here meeting with the mayor, heads of Michelin and BMW and in todays Greenville Journal it says that an LLC (low cost carrier, i.e. Southwest) should make an announcement in early Sept. if they're coming to GSP. We have a metropolitan pop. (50 mile radius) of over 650k, plus as I stated in my previous post another 2 million within 2 hours drive. Expect either SW or Airtrans to be coming here soon, and I for one, will be ecstatic.

Not that it matters, but I think we have a lot more than 650K within a 50 mile radius of the airport.

While I do agree with you, the problem is that's it usually more than "a little extra". Flying to Baltimore, and my options were $175 out of Charlotte (non-stop), or $389 out of Greenville (1 stop). At that point it becomes a no-brainer. GSP's issue isn't service, it's definitely price.

The GSA combined statistical area is the 35th largest in the United States, with over 1.2 million people. Hardly a small market.

There are approximately 2.9 million within 75 miles of GSP.
