New to the area...is there a preacher that is like Joel Osteen in Greenville? I just love how motivational and inspirational he is! He is very postive and uplifting. He is not the type of preacher that puts you down and says, "You are a sinner!" I need inspiration in my life not condemnation. I would like to find a local church that is very inspirational and uplifting as well. I am completely open to denomination.

I haven't been myself, but one hears a good bit about World Redemption Outreach (a.k.a. The Church that Ate Greenville). I know their pastor is very charismatic and they do lots of programs, non-traditional stuff, etc. Not sure what the pastor's name is. I also hear lots of good things about Brookwood Community Church between Mauldin & Simpsonville. Both are non-denominational.
None of those pastors are like Osteen. Osteen preaches about feel good issues. He doesn't even have a cross in his church. Those other Pastors actually talk about Heaven and Hell, Jesus, and of all things, Satan. Osteen does not even mention the Cross and the Blood of Jesus. If Osteen is what you are looking for, I doubt you will find him in the upstate.
Brookwood Community Church is actually Southern Baptist, but they do not publicize it.
Wow... You can say THAT again! I accompanied a friend who is a member one Sunday, and it was not like any Baptist church I've ever heard about! Coffee & donuts in the lobby, bring it into the "auditorium" (not sanctuary) with you to service, etc...

I do not really care to hear about hell. Joel Osteen does talk about Jesus and the bible. He quotes from it every week. And, what is so wrong with "feel good issues?" I think we could all use some more of that! Why does church need to be sooo heavy and serious? Where in the bible does it say that???
I haven't been to New Spring, but a couple of my best friends are very devoted to this church and think the world of its minister. I can't imagine that they would feel the way they do if he were heavy on the "hellfire and damnation."

Wow, his father must be rolling over in his grave! I visited his church in the early 80's in TX and it sure wasn't like that!
