The Wall St. Journal posted a story about this today:

The South Financial Group Agrees to Merger with TD Bank Financial Group - MarketWatch

Doesn't really indicate if any corporate job losses are on the way, or how many... <fingers crossed>

No job losses in this area probably due to no presence here currently.

I was thinking more about the corporate functions currently located here, not so much the retail banking positions. Still a question mark...

Assuming that TD Bank will convert all Carolina First bank branches to TD Bank, I suppose that means our convention center will now be the TD Bank Center...

That actually could be kinda cool - provided TD Bank wants to continue paying for naming rights...

I'm hoping they make the downtown center their southeast or US headquarters. Definitely a big question mark.

They already have their US headquarters/corporate offices in New Jersey and Maine, so I doubt they will move those operations to Greenville. If they decide to add a corporate office for their southeast operations then Greenville would make a lot of sense.

Hopefully Greenville will be the seat of the Southeast operations, and they'll expand in the region.

Why would anybody want to have their US headquarters in those two states when they could have it here instead?

Based on the Greenville News article about Southwest yesterday, Southwest has said they are already looking for sponsorship opportunities in our area.

Carolina First Center -----> Southwest Center (or, see attached)...done.
