Isn't it weird to reread posts we wrote earlier? Like you said, the pain is really apparent.
My grief counselor gave me all the drawings I'd done over the year after my husband died. Some of them were so raw - I had forgotten I felt THAT bereft - I mean, I knew I did but wow. I have come a long way, and so have you. Life can really, really be hard sometimes.
You're through the first year. I personally found that first year to be the hardest. Things began to settle down for me - the grief became more manageable, after the holidays passed. This year, my holidays were quiet but felt more normal, if that makes sense. The first year, all I could think about was missing people, especially my husband. This year, I did think about him a lot off and on, but it wasn't as raw feeling - sometimes the memories, though poignant, were also pleasant - I'm grateful he was in my life. My dad's birthday was in December and also, he always really loved Christmas, so I especially miss him (as well as my mom) during Christmas and especially on New Years Eve. But this was a good year and I am so grateful for it.
