How can you leave out the Single Six! I just realized I own all 3 -- Mark III, 10/22, and Single Six. The only one I've had a problem with is the Mark III 22/45. The slide return wore a groove in the plastic grip and causes jams which require disassembly.

I'm so cheap I pretty much only shoot .22 now. It's hard to go wrong at $0.05/rnd. Heck, it's almost as cheap as shooting a pellet gun.

Bought this one new in 1971 for $48 - it's a fine little rifle. Put a scope base on the receiver but never got one for it:

I do own 2 Ruger rifles .. the 77/22 and a Mini 14. Enjoy both guns. I also own one of their revolvers ... the Single Six. I like the idea of a 22 cal auto loader and that's why I'm looking at the 10/22. I do like the walnut stock on the Sporter model. The elm wood is ok, but just doesn't look as nice as the walnut.

Since the 22 ammo is still affordable in large quantities, I figured the 10/22 would be the little brother to the Mini when I go to the range. Switching between the 2 would allow me to not spend as much on ammo. It would also work well for any unwelcome small critter that ventures into my yard.

I'm not much into adding all the accessories other than a scope. I still enjoy irons sights (as long as my old eyes still hold out), but a scope is still nice to have for the longer shots. Tell me just how far this little 22 can reach out there and still be accurate..? I would assume 100 yards would be about its limit.

Good point about looking at the pawn shops.

Thanks...

Accuracy is up to you....I believe there is a thread on here about shooting 400 yards with a 22.

So, think about it...

My favorite is still the hand-me-down nylon 66.

Can't tac it out at all, but that's a great little gun.

I have one, it's been abused and heavily used and it still shoots like new.

I've never really heard anything bad about the 10/22. That's hard to say about any model.

It is at least as accurate as any other stock .22 out there and more accurate than most. In other words, how far are YOU comfortable taking a shot with a .22... that is the answer to how far the 10/22 will accurately punch holes.

Love Ruger products myself. For my handguns, 4 of 6 are Rugers; the other two were gifts.

A fine rifle for sure, and one that does not need unnecessary exaggerations. I believe my CZ452 is more accurate and would wager a stock FWB 2700 or Anschutz rifle are more accurate.

Bolt action have always been known to be more accurate, and the FWB 2700 is nothing but a fully modified target rifle (at least the one I Goggled), I would hope it more accurate...that an out of the box 10/22.

But, I will stand by my words...accuracy is in the person shooting not in the gun...the gun helps...but if you cannot shot...
