I like the program, and have been an active supporter of it for almost as long as it's been around. Many aren't even aware it exists - even NRA members. Guess one of the big things I REALLY like about it is how half the proceeds are required to be put back into the regions that raise the funds!
Yessir.....the Sig was straight-up auction, the Vanguard was their $500 raffle gun. Liked to have fainted when they called me on THAT one! Won a Marlin 30-30, too...forgot 'bout that one!

so you got the sig, the vanguard, and a Marlin?
Things are going well for you that day. You should have bought a lottery ticket while on a roll.
I wouldn't mind going to one but I don't think there are very many held in my area, at least the NRA doesn't tell me about them if there are.
We're the "best kept secret" - even among NRA members, believe me! But if you'll follow the NRA link I posted, it'll let you look for events by state and date....

I'll go ahead and do that, thanks.
Best kept secret huh? Lol, kinda reminds me of the locals who live in a beach town. Don't let the secret of where the best beaches are, out, otherwise, the tourists will ruin them.
Guess it depends....by charter, 50% of all net proceeds stay within the region where it's raised. Those funds are then distributed by reps from each committee, who meet annually as a "Grant Committee" (1 rep from each committee) and distribute funds as grants to those qualifying groups (4H, JrROTC, college shooting groups, LEO's, Scout troops, etc) who have applied. The number of regions will vary based on how many committees there are in a given state - Texas, for example, is divided into 3 regions. The South Texas Region passed out a bit over $413,000 in direct grants in January of this year.
That ain't cottage cheese - and it's that kind of effect that gets (and keeps) *ME* involved, at least.
