Just "pulled the trigger" on a new Savage in 6.5 PRC. I have yet to put it all together with parts here and there coming in but super excited. Vortex 4-16 glass. I'm reloading Hammer 131 grain copper pills in front of Reloader 26. Should be a scorcher without too much throat erosion. I was interested in the 6.8 Western but I already have rifles with that much recoil. What say you?

I've got some Hammers to play with for my .280AI and 6.5CM.
I have it on very solid authority that these bullets need a fast powder and a solid crimp. 1/8 to 1/4 crimp with a Lee FCD.
what's the point? If you can't get within 300m, you''re grossly inept as a hunter. If you can't hit at 300m, you're grossly inept as a rifleman. Dozens of cartridges suffice at 300m.
Seeing some people do their own reloading, the cost of brass may elevate.
the more one needs to crimp the shorter the lifespan of the brass. not that it matters if you don't reload.
A tighter twist ratio is going to leave more lead behind in the rifling. Cleaning more often.
A gun that gets cleaned often probably will not suffer much inaccuracy, however, I would think that leading will cause the bullet to drift being imbalanced spin with either by loss or by accumulation. One might also observe greater pressures in the chamber.
I could be wrong.

Not everyone is using their firearm for hunting...dude.
Some would say you are an inept hunter if you have to use a rifle. I normally do stalks with my recurve. See, that game can be played but I'd rather not try to divide gun owners.

I didn't see the fine print at the bottom and ordered the wrong projectiles. I have a 1 in 8 twist and they were for a 1 in 7.5 barrel. Steve is a cool dude and let me swap them out for the 134 hammer hunters.

I like to shoot my 6.5 cm at 800 yd targets. Would I hunt at that distance? No way. But target shooting is fun and that's what it's all about.

This store, fine firearms, carries hammer now. I didn't even know and they are local
