I knew I should have bought a case of those things while I could

Reliable as an anvil and fun to shoot.

Yep they'll be on list if they do manage to reinstate the AWB. Not sure they can get it done but if you have one (I do too) I'd lay in some extra ammo cause I'm sure they halt the import of milsurp ammo then that cost will skyrocket as well......

I have two Russian SKS's. Bought them for around $100 each in the mid 90's. The election of Obama has driven prices of all firearms and ammo through the roof.

Hey I knew there was a reason I ran out and impulsively stocked up on ammo a few months ago. I can see into the future!

You can still get them for under $300,just to look around. Some are jacking their prices, some are not.SKS should not be on the list unless it was converted to accept magazines.

I have a tricked out Chinese SKS with the Tapco T-6 conversion, fore-grip and a 80 lumen light with a laser in all black and I have about $300 in it not counting a growing pile of 122gr. HP Wolfe ammo. Wolvorines!!!

I wouldn't bet on that. Anything that looks like a military style rifle may be on the list, but the SKS is less likely than the AR or AK.

The SKS is a good rifle in it's niche. Funcitonally it is very similar to the AK and of couse fires the same cartrige. You can still find an SKS for a pretty reasonable price privately but shop prices are are the rise for sure. My local shop here has a Russian one and they want the same price for it that you can get a new WASR AK for. I have two of the latter (one AK and one RPK) and am very happy with them. They do what they are desinged to do. Take a licking and keep on ticking with minute of bucket accuracy at 200 yards. You might look into one of these rifles, there are still a lot of them on the shelves and the more honest shops havn't jacked up the price to bad. In the $500 dollar range with two mags and an accessory bag. Not TO bad but I still remember the days of a Poly Tech AK going for $200 and surplus Dragunov's being brought in as "relics and curios" for a hundred bucks. Gone are the days.
