More Facebook/LinkedIn stuff ... and actually from the office, too.

It seems like professional men spend a lot of money on their hair. I used to have a boss, late 50s, whose hair was too swoopy and perfect, and the color didn't look "real." He tended to be flashy, though. He must have spent a fortune.

I recently reconnected with someone from childhood living Back East. When we were teens, he had wavy dark brown hair like mine. He is, as I would have guessed, in financial services. His picture now reveals a slick looking haircut, with some minimal spiking up front, no waviness, and is reddish brown. It looks "the part," with the suit and all, but there's no way it's the real deal.

I'm on the cheap ... cheap haircuts and wash & wear hair. I can still wear a suit with it.

Is it normal for adult men (suits, or otherwise) to spend a fortune on their hair, let alone change its natural course and hair color? What kind of money are they dropping?

My husband is an executive. I think he spends $15 every two weeks at the local barber.

His business partner goes to a specific salon in Hong Kong for cuts and coloring and I have no doubt he pays a pretty penny for his coiffe.

I like my husband's hair better.

"Fortune" is subjective but why are you worried about how much other men spend on their hair? People like to spend money on different things, so be it.

Define "fortune".
What may be a lot to you may be a mere pittance to others.

My husband is a tech company co-founder and a designer. He spends exactly zero dollars on his hair beyond an initial investment in clippers. He uses my shampoo and occasionally some of my Weleda hair oil. It works for him, and he looks great. He looks so great, in fact, that I'm going to go hug him, like, right now.

Yes, it's all relative. I would say that starts at $40, and I have friends who spend that and MORE.

I spend in the $8 to $10 range for a haircut, and tip $2, and am happy with it.

What about the weird color change as described in the OP?

I have a shaved head, so I spend zero, well, except for razors, and I am a happy camper.

All mens haircuts are the same. An $8 cut (what I pay) is exactly the same as a $40 cut.
Pretty much the same is true for shampoo and hand cream and thousands of other products and services.

That's considered expensive for men's hair? I should be so lucky.

Want to trade?

Exactly! No one knows the difference. I'm actually gotten compliments on haircuts bought with a "coupon."

Still, no answers in the color change described in the OP on one of my friends?
