For 5 years I used Clairol hair color products from Sally Beauty until my scalp developed an allergic reaction--same thing with so-called natural dyes. Is all over highlighting done at a salon less likely to cause an allergic reaction?

Most people become allergic to the PPD, which is an ingredient in the darker hair color shades, with black dyes having the most concentration.

Some of the "natural" dyes also contain PPD.
