My trusted salons went out of business so I went to another one and had the owner-operator do an all over foil to help blend my grey into my light brown, formerly highlighted/lowlighted hair. Got home and saw that there was a large darker solid patch on the front top of my hair and very top of my head wasn't even dyed. Really bad looking. I won't go back to her. Should I let my hair grow out or have another salon, recommended by a friend, try to correct the highlight job gone wrong?

If you trust the recommendation, I'd get it fixed.

I would also send the salon photos so they know just how bad it was. Not that you are expecting anything from them (even if they offer I can understand why you wouldn't want it), just to make them aware of the problem. They need feedback on their stylists' abilities.

First thing you should do is rate them poorly for their pathetic services on Google and other reputed reputation management platforms. Afterall they should know what damage can a poorly done service can cost.

Secondly, as far as the wrongly dyed hair are concerned, I think you need to consult some other good hair salon or even you can try repairing the colors at your home by dyeing the undone hair by yourself. Not that you can do it best, but atleast you can try to repair the damage to certain extent.
