husband is taking a job in Newport News...where is a good place to live for a family of 4? looking to buy a house coming from a small wisconsin town of 6,000 so would prefer rural but want great schools.
2 kids:
second grader and a middle schooler....academically gifted kids so want the best schools for them. prefer public. It's more important that my girls have a great education over us living in a rural area. Hope someone can help....overwhelmed. thanks

I know a few at the shipyard who live in Yorktown, so you may want to check it out. What town are you from? I came from about an hour from Upper Michigan. A wee bit too cold now for these bones! LOL

I would suggest Yorktown, York County (Still falls in the "Yorktown" category) or Poquoson. Lots of neighborhoods in York County off of Victory blvd. Hampton Highway or Magruder Highway all have a nice rural feel to them. Poquoson is a small town at the end of Victory Blvd. just past York County that has excellent schools but a small town feel.. We live in Yorktown and love it here. Close to everything, but with an off the beaten track feel.
