My boyfriend & I are looking to move to the area but have 2 horses, so of course we need land for them. Does anyone know the specific requirement, if any, about how much land per horse in different towns? We also want to be very close to VA each area, but not out of that underwater tunnel (I've heard it backs up for hours getting in & out of the beach area.) So we'd like somewhere within the tunnel, & a great place to have horses. We'd be looking at buying a house, & boarding horses is not an option - that'd be nearly $1k a month. Any help would be wonderful!

Usually the property is zoned for horses etc. I am not sure if you need a certain amount of land for each horse, but I can check. You would probably be looking in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach if you have horses, but there are other areas that do allow horses.

The traffic from the tunnels shouldn't bother you too much....you can just ride your horse between the cars.

Just kidding Pungo would be a good choice. And I believe there are ranches with horse owners along Dam Neck road or in that vicinity.

You may want to check out a site called newhorse.com You will find resources that will give you information on Horse Properties for sale by state. The site also lists Horse farms which cover the entire VB area and may be a good resource to call for more area information.

There are two very nice Horse farms which have boarding in the Chesapeake area off of Mt. Pleasant Rd and a lot of open land and country lanes for easy riding.
