Avalon Woods/Avalon Terrace is located in Kempsville. Like you said, more of a blue collar area, which is a good thing. One of the nicer areas of VB, and not snooty. Good schools, too. One of the few neighborhoods in VB where you can still get 1/2 -1 acre lot. I spent 36 yrs in the area.

I have lived in Virginia Beach for almost 40 years - Cox High School, Kellum High School, First Colonial High School, Princess Anne High School and Ocean Lakes High School are the schools that you should look to move to one of those neighborhoods. Zips are 23454, 23451, 23452, 23456. Your best bet would be to look in these areas.

This is a really old thread.

I had a coworker that moved to the nice hood in question, and they did some research and from far away the schools looked okay. Their kid HATED the G gangster crap.

Eventually the guy was like WHY DID I EVER MOVE HERE and the whole family moved back to the west coast. He had come from working at Microsoft.

Midway through they moved to another VB neighborhood, kids went to First Colonial and their quality of life improved greatly.
