Which area do you like to go to more to shop, dine, play, etc. downtown norfolk or virginia beach town center?

my vote goes to downtown norfolk for the sheer urbanity, history, waterfront, etc.

C: none of the above would be my answer... unless something is happening either like at the comedy club at town center or some type of event in downtown Norfolk that is not happening anywhere else I really don't spend much free time at either location....to be honest I don't think either place really has that much going for it IMO

How does Town Center even count? Comparing Downtown Norfolk to Town Center is a joke. The ocean front would be a better comparison. Town Center is just a collection of over priced restaurants, bank branches, law firms, overpriced condos, a dozens of empty store fronts that will likely not ever be filled.

I agree but cant the same be said for Downtown Norfolk, because that description you just gave is perfect for both locals

Sure, Norfolk does have a number of empty store fronts, but there are also various sports bars, cheap dives, clubs, a park where concerts and festivals are held is right there. There isnt a place in Town Center where you can get a burger for $6 or less, but there are a number of them in Downtown Norfolk.

you can find all of that within walking distance of town center except a large park where events are held like Harborfest, but there is live music outside pretty much every weekend at town center......And the burger deal? I would not be going to downtown or town center if all I wanted was a cheap burger.....bottom line is both places really dont have much going for for them

I agree they dont, but if you had to make a pick or a comparison, Town Center wouldnt even be in the same breath with Downtown Norfolk or the Va Beach oceanfront for me.

Town Center is nothing but a giant joke, in my opinion.

You could only get a burger for $6 during the daytime in downtown Norfolk. Well, BBQ sandwich from Plume Street or burger from Uncle Al's (I go there a lot, don't stalk). Both of those are closed for dinner. Do you know of other burgers for $6 on Granby? Perhaps the pizza is somewhat cheap by the slice at Granby Street Pizza, and of course Gustos. But otherwise you will pay $15-$20 for a meal from Havannas or similar.

Baxters, for one. Thats one of the cheapest places Ive seen in the whole area, and not terrible quality.

No joke? We went there once or twice for lunch, but then they quit doing lunch. Will have to check it out again.

Been trying to get the urban planet folks to do a meetup, but they always have reasons and it falls apart.
