I am getting ready to start a new job on Norfolk Naval Base, and I have to be there in the mornings at 6:30. Which tunnel should I take, the HRBT or midtown tunnel? What's the traffic like for HRBT around that time?

Where are you coming from? I know the HRBT has alot of traffic coming East bound through the HRBT, and west bound after work is a nightmare.

I hear midtown tunnel is just as bad but I never gone that route.

Use the HRBT, but keep in mind, the traffic will be bad on the interstate going into the base. I would recommend going to work at 5am. This will give you plenty of time down the interstate to the main gate and wherever you have to be. Also, you can not use your cell phone nor text message while driving on a government installation, so make sure your phone is off so you don't inadvertantly pick it up and answer it. Make sure your base stickers and I.D. are current.
