Adopt a Caucasian (loan, house, living in)

Yeah i know. I saw the other thread title and I THOUGHT that's what it said, until I clicked and saw all this funked racist crap.

Anyhoo, I clicked on it because I thought it was a sweet idea. Adopting a caucasian I mean, not the other thing. I would still be a little lost here without my aunty. I am thankful every day for her, because without her, I might just be another *insert cuss word here* haole.

How about a Haole Holiday? Shouldn't there be some sort of cultural event for haoles? Dunno quite what it would be, though. Maybe some sort of picnic or barbeque event? How about a croquette tournament?

I would think if we are being Caucasian, shouldn't there be some sort of mountain outfit or yodeling or something?

Eureka, lol, sorry this was my bad play on words attempt after my cat had woke me up last night and I had a bit too much sake in my bloodstream. I have never had the term haole tossed at me in a bad way.

There are plenty of haole holidays -- St. Patrick's Day, Flag Day (June 14th), the 4th of July, Admission Day (August 19th), Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, etc.

I think you are perpetuating Haole stereotypes. Not all haoles are from mountainous, yodeling areas! You are forgetting the many flat-landers, who wear plaid pants and hit little balls with sticks. They don't yodel, they tell bad jokes, over and over again.

Ok, so I failed geography and looked at a map for Caucasus mountains. True caucasians are aremenian or turkish?

Oh yea there is a cultural event just for you it's called "kill a hoale day" and has been in effect for decades. The H word is just like the N word. Get a grip and study what you speak. Hoale does not mean white person and BTW Columbus was Spanish.

I picture all of you living in nice house smoking pot and oblivious to the fact that you are perpetuating a bad idea. Many suffer but you come on this forum and act like the white racism that abounds here doesn't exist that it is complimentary to all the other races that tease each other here. We call you Elos in the old days (try finding someone who will tell you what that means) but now are referred to as hoales. It wasn't that bad before in the 60's but now with all the overcrowding the word is an explosive attack at how white people ruined these islands and is akin to the N word.

If the term is not offensive to so many why does not the news or the shows in Hawaii refer to people as hoales? Please I can't wait for this one.

I have had neighbours move and seen young children cut up from fights over this word you hold so dear. Oh yea that's right; it's only my imagination, or perhaps it's my karma or I'm not drinking enough sake or smoking enough pot.

I am uncertain as to the meaning of the word "hoale" however haole is in common usage among my Polynesian friends:

haole nvs. White person, American, Englishman, Caucasian; American, English; formerly, any foreigner; foreign, introduced, of foreign origin, as plants, pigs, chickens; entirely white, of pigs (Malo 37; perhaps Malo actually means of foreign introduction). See kolea 1. References in traditional literature are few, but these have been noted: He haole nui maka ʻālohilohi (FS 201), a big foreigner with bright eyes [referring to Kama-puaʻa, the pig demigod]. Hānau ke poʻo haole, he haole kēlā (KL. line 505), born was the stranger's head, that was strange. Hoʻokahi o Tahiti kānaka, he haole (Kua-liʻi chant, For. 4:375) only one people in Tahiti, foreigners. ʻĀina haole, foreign land. ʻŌlelo haole, European language, especially English. hoʻo.haole To act like a white person, to ape the white people, or assume airs of superiority [often said disparagingly, especially of half-whites]. Hoʻohaole ʻia, Americanized, Europeanized; to have become like a white person or have adopted the ways of a white man. (Marquesan haoʻe is probably a loan from Hawaiian.)
