You folks close to the shore on the north-east side of the Islands might want to consider moving to higher ground.. 7.7 quake minutes ago off the coast of Canada.. Pack all the spam you can carry.. Residents of Volcano needn't worry... But it might rain later...Best thing about modern technology, you have roughly 3 hours to think it over.

Aloha

Note: "TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT
RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE"

Pacific Tsunami Warning Saturday Oct. 27, 2012

EVALUATION

A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE ALONG
COASTLINES OF ALL ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. URGENT ACTION
SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.

A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE
CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD
COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE
INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS
CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST.
TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT
RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE
. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI
WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL
QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE
CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED
BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH
TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.

THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME IN HAWAII OF THE FIRST TSUNAMI WAVE IS

1028 PM HST SAT 27 OCT 2012

MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED HOURLY OR SOONER AS CONDITIONS WARRANT.

Default Live Camera at Hilo Bay

This is the tsunami camera at Hilo Bay - it's dark, though, but still may see something going on in a couple of hours.

Keeping all of you in my prayers... my kids too! All four of my girls are down in Waikiki. Hope they are gettin' out of dodge. Cant' get through. Cell phones are jammed.

Text messages often work fine when phone calls won't go thru.

Here's another set of beach cameras on all the islands at the Sheraton Hotels
There's an arrow on the right to change beach views

Thanks - yeah, I texted them after I calmed down. I heard back from two of them. They are safe. One of them is at work right downtown Waikiki -- so hopefully boss isn't one of those, "Oh everything will be OK..." type bosses and they evacuate up a 10 floors. No word from the 4th one.... It's tough being on the mainland while they are there! Deep breaths... It's a mom thing!
