Yup no tornadoes or major earthquakes yet, but hurricanes and bad tropical storms sometimes.

Worst earthquake recorded in Hawai'i, April 12, 1868 - Ka'u, 7.9 Richter, 77 deaths and widespread destruction. 49 of those were caused by resulting tsunami hitting Puna.

Historic Earthquakes

Worst storm recorded in Hawai'i, September 11, 1992 - Hurricane Iniki

"Iniki slammed into the south shore of Kauai, causing an estimated $1.8 billion in damage and killing six. More than 1,000 people were injured."

Hurricane Iniki: The Most Powerful Storm Ever to Hit Hawaii

Worst tsunami to hit Hawai'i, May 20, 1960 - 61 deaths in Hilo and $75 million in damage.

Hawaii's 1960 Tsunami - CBS News

Experts say that overall tsunamis have caused more death and damage in Hawai'i than any other natural disasters. Tropical storms tend to veer off and go around Hawai'i, due to the large mass of the volcanoes creating a pressure barrier that deflects most storms.

If Hawaii were ever to get hit by anything the size of the typhoon which is now hittin east India, it would be 'lights out' for a long time. As Hotzcatz has pointed out before, if the west coast docks were to go down, Hawaii would be DOOMED!!!!!!!

for a month or so, Don't forget to stock up on A1 sauce...............

6.8 that knocked out all power on Oahu long enough that the water plants were going to stop working.

My sis has pics of a tornado that touched down on some airfield around here. Quite a few waterspouts, and today it was funnel cloud warning or some such.

We do have occasional tornadoes in HI. Some come as water hose/funnels from the ocean. Some stay there. Some are land based.
