My husband and I are looking into moving to MoloKai and are unsure how to find an apartment except on Craigs list I do think we will only be there on the island for 2-3 years and unsure if it is worth the cost to have all the household items now shipped down there or just rent an apartment that is furnshied? Also I will be working in the hospital there on the island and what are the locals thoughts about the hosptial there.
Thanks

Ask the hospital if they know of any rentals that would be suitable, they probably have workers moving on and off the island frequently.

Molokai is remote and does not have access to many of the big box stores, so if it's anything exotic (for Molokai, Kuerig coffee makers might be considered exotic) bring it and the supplies for it with you. Or make arrangements to have the stuff mailed to you. Make note that not all online stores and sources will ship to Hawaii. There is big box shopping on Maui, but that will require either a plane or ferry ride to get there so it's not a quick trip to the store to get it. Also, once you get to Maui, you'd most likely have to rent a car to get to the shops, too. I don't think the ferry takes cars, you'd have to check into that.

For general household goods, though, you should be able to find a source but renting a furnished apartment might be the easiest answer. Check Molokai Craig's List to see costs and availability, but absolutely don't rent anything until you've seen it in person.

The ferry (or as I call it, the Barf Boat) to Molokai does not take cars. Airfare is only slightly more expensive, takes several less hours, and requires a lot less Dramamine.

Molokai is the way all the Hawaiian Islands looked like a hundred years ago. Which as explained has its down sides, but if you work past these issues will probably work out for you. I would rent a furnished apartment. Be sure you see the apartment before you rent it! You will have to do a lot of on-line shopping to get any purchase you may need from the big box stores?
Best of luck in your move.
