Nutritious whole grain types, about $6.00 per loaf.

The "cheap stuff" runs around $3 a loaf or so. We quit eating store bought bread years ago, if you buy the flour and yeast in bulk and have a Kitchen Aid mixer the stuff is really easy to make and it is still cheap.

About half that for the "cheap" stuff. Inexpensive bread can be had if you are willing to make your own. It isn't that hard and if you buy the flour and yeast in bulk, it is pretty inexpensive. If you buy the small packets of yeast and flour by a five pound bag, it will be about the same as a loaf of bread, though. Costco has "bread flour" which works real well for making bread. Duh! After you've gotten basic bread figured out, it is real easy to add in the different grain flours, oils, spices, herbs, cheeses, etc.

I have been following food prices, etc. since las fall when we started thinking about moving. Soda (Coke, Pepsi) prices are shocking to us. We cut out almost all of those products to ready us for the move some time ago. The price of local, grass-fed beef is a positive as is fresh fish that costs half an arm here in Illinois.

When we get there I'm making our own bread. I'm not paying $7 for bread.
