I've met my deductible, for the first time! I've needed wrist surgery for years. Now I've been denied the surgery and recovery time by my employer! They say that they would be short staffed, if I were out for that time. Do I have any rights, as an employee? The week before, someone was given leave from now, through the end of the year. I live in Minnesota, there are at least 50 employees. Thank your for any advice you may have.
Bring a real doctor's note with his/her signature stating that you must have this surgery and the number of days off that you require. There is no way your employer can legally deny you this time off and if they fire you, get an attorney. They can hire a temp to cover for you while you are gone.
