My medicare starts 11/1/2020, I turn 65 on 11/8/2020 does that make any difference as far as getting medicare coverage during that window? I have a bunch of appointments set up that first week before my birthday since my medicare is suppose to kick in on 11/1/2020. My physician today says that sometimes there are issues with medicare paying during that period between the beginning of the month and your actual birthday.

I enrolled in medicare way early 8/1/2020, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Has anyone had an issue with that?

Why would an insurance company pay claims before you are actually covered?

My medicare, according to my card starts on 11/1/2020. Any info I read says it starts on 11/1/2020? Not sure what you are getting at? my question is whether anyone has had an issue that shouldn't be a problem according to medicare's own website. My physician brought up previous issues she has seen.

Your coverage should start on the 1st of the birthday month

See https://www.medicare.gov/sign-up-cha...coverage-start

where it says "If you sign up for Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and/or Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) during the first 3 months of your Initial Enrollment Period, your coverage starts the first day of the month you turn 65"

Even if birthday is late in the month. Here is their example:
"Mr. Green's 65th birthday is July 20, 2020. If he signs up for Medicare in April, May, or June, his coverage will start on July 1, 2020."

BTW, Social Security does the same. Nothing is pro-rated.

Of course even Medicare is known to make mistakes, but generally they correct them when necessary.

Thanks Reed303..... that is what I read too. My guess the problems were just mistakes that were rectified.
