I’m just curious what others think about this insurance since I don’t really know much at all about health insurance.

I guess I’m too young to get Medicare since I’m not 65? Something about Part B?

But Tricare Prime, I have to pay 25 per month, and then I usually have a copay for a visit ($20 or so) then have a copay if I get a prescription filled (anywhere between 2 and 30 dollars is my experience so far). I have no idea what catastrophic cap really means or deductibles?

I’ve been lucky thus far, I very seldom ever have the need to see a doctor. But eventually, everyone’s luck runs out so I want to be prepared.

But would it be better to get another insurance instead of Tricare? Or use the VA? Would the VA be cheaper? I’ve heard some bad stories about the VA, but recently I heard they are getting better.

Also, what is ACA I always hear about? Is that better than Tricare? What about private insurance not associated with a job?

I am so uneducated about health insurance, and then when I go on the website to try to get up to speed, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, and/or I get bored fast and give up.

So I just continue on and pay what they tell me to pay without any real understanding what I can or can’t do.

$25/mo. premium is a ridiculously low premium. ACA insurance will cost 10-20x that, or more depending on your income plus very high deductibles. Don't even think about it.

Some here have both VA and Tricare and alternate use depending on their needs. Most are very pleased with the VA when they use it. Do a search on this forum for "Tricare" for more info on that.

Meanwhile, don't even think about dropping Tricare.
