Medicare supplemental insurance can be used it with any Medicare provider in any state.
Medicare Advantage plans are specific to the region where they are purchased. Some provide for out-of-network coverage but the plan pays less, sometimes substantially so.
Similar to Advantage,
non-Medicare insurance as a rule may or not provide for out-of-network coverage at a higher cost. However, there are some plans with a national provider network. Also, many retiree plans allow for national coverage. You need to call wife's insurer to determine coverage and costs.
