Do any of you have this Medicare Advantage Plan? If so, has it worked well or not very? Thank you.

My mother has one with Kaiser. She is satisfied with it. No really major health issues but she gets what she needs and can see a specialist when she needs one.

Last year I got Medicare, did not know anything about the Part B, so I went to an insurance man, told him what I was looking for, he said he had just the one for me.
He sold me an Advatage Plan. I went to the hospital about 6 mos. later, I am know paying on a balance after the Advantage plan paid their part, the bill was 10,000, I owe 4,000 on it. Another bill was 3,000, I owe 950.00. My doctor asked me to get another insurance, he said this was the worst one out there. His office call was 59.00, they paid 1.89. I just canceled it and joined ARP, its a little higher, but no cop pay and after medicare pays they pay the balance. Do you still have Medicare also?

I will be eligible for Medicare beginning November first. Early retirement due to permanent disability. I will be getting Part A, Part B and need to get something to cover the difference between what they pay and what the remainder is. Also, I have prescription coverage now through my employer (until October 31st) and still pay out of pocket almost $200 a month for my meds. What can I get that will give me almost 100% coverage? Need recommendations please.

go to the medicare, part d website (mymedicare.gov, i believe). it will guide you thru choosing a prescription drug plan. if you take a lot of meds, unlikely to give you 100% coverage. but you can see which plan is best in your area.

Default Don't get one!

Don’t get an Advantage plan. You can get a Medigap plan and it will pay your Part B and fills the gaps of original Medicare. These are sold at private insurance companies. Look out they will try to sell you and Advantage plan! You can find a Part D plan on Medicare.com . There will be a doughnut hole from $2,510 to $4,500 that you will pay all medications yourself. This also happens in most Advantage plans also. Call Social Security and ask for extra help. This is for prescriptions only. It is income related also. If you are low income you can get Medicaid through the state and that will pick up the expenses that Medicare does not pay for.
If you are eligible for Medicare and Medicaid doesn’t ever get an advantage plan they do not coordinate well and all you need is Medicare and Medicaid, thus being dual eligible.

speaking of the doughnut hole for meds........There are (new?) ways to get many generic drugs for $10/90 day supply. some places only have 30 day supply ($4). If you get your generics this way, may keep you out of the doughnut hole, or at least postpone it. Unfortunately, i discovered a bit late in the year. Still, better than never!

Costco and Walmart are offering terrific rates for generics. They really can't be beat, and I have a feeling they will be forcing the chain drug stores to drop their prices as well.

is it possible that your employer offers a coverage for its retirees on medicare? often, these plans don't have "doughnut holes" like part d plans or medicare hmos (advantage plans). please be sure to check on that first, espec. if you work for a major co or gov't employer. also, try to figure out what the actual cost of meds are. see if you can substitute generics for some of your brand rx.
if you are under age 65 (it sounds like you might be), there may be only certain medigap plans that you can purchase (usually the most basic Plan A). if you go that route, please be sure to shop around for the best monthly premium. keep in mind that you will be paying a Medicare part b premium of $96.40/mo + cost of medigap policy and cost of part d plan (PDP). however, most coinsurances would be paid thru the medigap policy.
there are also medicare advantage plans which could be hmos or private fee-for-service plans, depending on what is offered in your area. if you go on medicare.gov, you can put in your zip code. the site will tell you what is avbl in your area.
if you qualify for drug discounts or medicare savings programs, that would also be a good way to cut costs down considerably.
if you have any more questions, you may dm me. good luck.
