I don't sleep well at night and depend on a snooze, usually in my favorite chair, to boost me for the rest of the day.

Yes, napping is good & it keeps you fresh.
Thats why people have recommended power naps at work place. It keeps then fresh & good to stay active.

Agreed! It's worth noting that any longer may cause some unpleasant side effects that may or may not be (actually will be) sluggish and super sleepy heavy headed-ness.

The idea is that behind 30 minutes of sleep is light rest, gentle enough on the head, but not long enough to fall into deep sleep. Deep sleep is 30 minutes-90 minutes in. 90 minutes being a sleep cycle.

It's also awesome for splitting the day into two. If you have awesome work mornings, imagine how much more awesome it would be if you had two in a day!

I have NEVER been able to take naps -- I am too neurotic when it comes to sleep. If I were to lie down at noon with my alarm set for 12:30 p.m., I MIGHT be asleep by 12:25 p.m., after STARTING to doze off several times but jerking myself awake to make sure it's not yet time to get up. And then, of course, it WOULD be. So a 30-minute nap is just not workable for me personally.

When I am home sick, which doesn't happen very often, I might lie down for a nap in the middle of the day, but I would likely sleep for 3 or 4 hours -- that's not really a nap, it's half a night's sleep!

If I get enough sleep at night (definitely 7 hours minimum), I am usually fine all day. When I am on breaks from work (winter break, summer break, sabbaticals), I virtually never set my alarm and I revert to my "normal-for-me" 26-hour day, so I constantly go in and out of sync with the rest of the world. Yep, it's odd, but I've been like this since I was a teenager many decades ago.

I love my afternoon naps on the weekend. It's usually an hour or 2 for me around 3:00 p.m. I don't do it often but when I do I enjoy it.

I can't take naps. I need a minimum of around 30 minutes to even doze off and every little sound, temperature fluctuation, itch and ache wakes me up. If I'm lucky I'll get 3 or 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep, and I cant remember the last time I got 8, even as a kid. I pretty much live on Advil PM and Unisom but I still always feel tired. Sometimes it really sucks.

Then I see my wife fall asleep within dang near 2 minutes and be out cold for hours and hours. Wake her up and she instantly falls back asleep for several more. How the heck does she do that!? I don't get it and I'm jealous. I wish I could take naps, or just sleep like a normal person. Oh well.
