I've been telling doctors for years about this and they look at me like I'm crazy. one suggested i see a psychiatrist. I finally stopped telling them. I wake up in the middle of the night with what sounds like a horrible cat fight. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and all 4 are sound asleep within my eyesight. The first couple of times I got up with a flashlight to see what was happening. Now, after years of this happening intermittantly, I just try to go back to sleep.
I'm making copies of this article to ask every doctor put it in my chart. I AM NOT CRAZY.
This has happened to me a few times in the past year. It was really startling. The first time I thought something in the room had fallen with a loud bang. The other night, it sounded like several radios and alarm clocks all went off at the same time.
My friend that meditates alot and actually drifts off listening to $350 tapes
to tap into the subconscious mind...
woke up a couple times, but with light in the room...with a roaring like a plane landing 10 feet over her house sound
...asked her husband...he heard nothing.
She just thought it was spiritual and she was 'glimpsing' into another
realm, astral or whatever, another one of the dimensions.
That's her story.
I get this from time to time. Normally happens as I am drifting away to sleep and take a sharp detour into the lucid realm.. Kinda that inbetween place where you stop thinking and your brain starts doing its own thing instead..
That's happened to me a number of times. I hear what sounds like a gun shot or firecracker. I was rather alarmed the first couple of times it happened. After that, I didn't worry about it.
I've woken with a start many times thinking that someone was knocking on my door..
I'd hardly call it a 'syndrome' or a real problem for me. I've just always figured it's psychological.. I think everyone fears the late night knock on the door, you open it, and a cop is there with his hat in his hand and a sad look on his face.
That actually happened to the mother of a friend of mine.. Son was killed in a car accident, cop showed up at 2am with her sons wallet and told her he was dead. In a more sensitive way than i'm describing here, of course.
Person with the animals.. I'd guess that perhaps you have some fear, perhaps deep down, that the cats and dogs are going to tear each other up? Person with alarm clock sounds.. Perhaps you have some innate fear of oversleeping and being late for work or something? I think it's probably our subconscious minds running with our fears.
nothing subconscious or psychological about it at all. Did you read the article? It is a misfiring in the brain.
My dogs and cats get along great, eat and sleep together...no fear at all. In my case it is a screeching sounds which awakens me with a start.

Me, too. I have never thought it was anything to worry about.
