Don't use tea tree oil over nail polish. It dissolves enamel. Keep it away from all synthetics, in fact, including finished wood floors and acrylic tiles, and even plastic cups. If you hadn't used it over nail polish, it might've helped within a couple of weeks, instead of a few months.
You don't use a cotton swab when applying it to fungus either. You put a dab on the nail and rub it in.
Wear *only* cotton socks if you're wearing shoes, or go barefoot... avoid synthetic material in your shoes - leather or cotton uppers, and you could try those charcoal inserts to absorb and wisk away moisture. Take your shoes off as soon as you're in the house and leave them off until you need to leave the house.
When you shower or bathe, wash your feet and make sure they're completely dry before you put your socks on.
You -can- use body lotion, or foot lotion, but make sure it's rubbed in thoroughly before wearing socks or putting on shoes. Don't mix the lotion with the tea tree oil though.
Tea tree oil does work, but you have to use it regularly. takes a good while but it works!
I can say with certainty that this did not work for me. I had a really good brand of TTO that I bought in Oz and wore sandals every day and was totally consistent about using it twice a day for months and it didn't even touch it.
