I sit at my desk so much, I'm concerned about my health & fitness, which I know I don't get enough of. I'd like to buy one of those little foot pedal machines, called a cardio cycle (or something better it's out there). Anyone have a good machine you can do while sitting at your desk?

I want something like this so far: Marcy Deluxe Mini Cardio Cycle (NS909) : Target

lol that better be a quiet machine or you're going to have your coworkers upset.

My suggestion is go for a run during lunch, workout in the mornings and/or after work.

It would give your legs some workout, but the rest of your body is ignored when using one of the mini exerciser cycling machines.

Best to just make it a point to get up at least once every hour and walk around: carry a few file folders with you to make it appear that you're on a mission to get somewhere in the office. And then on your morning/afternoon break, walk as much as you can. Lunch time it's nice to get more walking in, but also take time to rest while eating and de-stressing.

Just get up, move about....dance a bit! You can tap your feet while sitting at your desk...kick one leg, then the other! Do some punching exercises while sitting....

You really don't need gadgets...just the WILL to move!

Deep breathing...........in though the nose, out through the mouth. Do this for 2 minutes and try to fully fill-up and deflate your lungs.........it is stimulating and quite a workout.

yeah I kept hearing about sitting for a prolonged time is very bad for your health, like increase your chances of getting diseases etc it's serious! I also sit down for a long time, does standing up and just standing there help at all? or you must walk around? sometimes I just stand up for 5,10 min but I wonder if it helps.

if you must get up and walk around, how long should it be? 5 min?

OP back, sorry I didn''t reply in so long! I still never bought anything yet.

I've been trying to get up every 30 min so far.

I belong to a gym & I really want to sqeeeze that in a lot more often. Since the beginning of April, I've been walking a lot more regularly by going 4-6 mornings a week, for about 30-45 min.

I still may buy the machine one day though!
