Magnesium, potassium, salt (Himalayan, Celtic, or Real Salt) - help with electrolyte balance in muscle cells, magnesium also helps relax muscles

Iodine - preferably from kelp/seaweed, relatively small amounts (600 mcg - 6 mg) can balance hormones and cure fibrocystic breasts

I massage my stomach during my period. It seems to help my uterus do its thing, so instead of 2-3 days of cramps, the cramping lasts just that one day.

You could try some prescription strength narcotics, like oxycodone or hydrocodone, or just some codeine. But honestly, they work nowhere near as well as ibuprofen. Have you talked to your doctor about it? There are NSAIDs which are better for your stomach.

How old are you! Could a hysterectomy or ablation be an option? Otherwise a mirena or continuous pills can reduce the occurence.

Good management of the other symptoms can reduce the pain, too. Try taking psyllium husks for the whole month. This is even more important if you're taking narcotics.

Vitex also known as Chasteberry might work for you. Bad cramps are often a symptom of high estrogen/low progesterone. Low progesterone is often the result or cause of ovarian cysts and cramps.

For just the symptom, the pain factor, you could try Feverfew, which is much gentler on the digestion than OTC. Feverfew is part of the Chrysanthemum/Daisy group of plants, so be sure you don't have any allergies to those flowers before trying Feverfew.

Exercise. Usually, cramps happen because the flow is not coming down. Exercise helps to increase the flow which lessens the cramps.

I speak from experience. I am a 7-day heavy bleeder all 7 days. My menstrual cramps are only relieved with extreme amounts of water, exercise and pickle juice.

Oh the JOY!!!
Question: Is this dangerous? Does this mean you can't have children if your periods just stop? I've always wondered and after I went on birth control, my periods came back as soon as I stopped, which was a bummer. I used to take the pills non-stop, so I didn't get periods anymore purposefully. I never knew if that was realllly dangerous or not.

Soy milk is often recommended in Japan. I tried it, and it seemed to work for me.
