With heavy exercise or in hot weather, 1 gallon per day if you include the water in food. Otherwise 0.5 gallons should suffice. It's a rule of thumb of course.

I don't need a solution - I'm not posting a problem. I do what I do because it makes sense for me and it's convenient. I might not be able to afford a Lotus and a butler in my 40-room mansion, but I can certainly afford 34 cents for a bottle of spring water every day.
