My mother is severely hard of hearing but cant afford hearing aids. She has been given a set of Natura 2 hearing aids but can't find anyone to get them programmed for her. She said she called several places and they don't do it. Does anyone have suggestions on organizations or places that I can try to get her some help?
I just did a google search for Natura hearing aids (I tried first with Natura 2 and then tried without the 2) and the only reference I could find was a blurb from some sales website saying that the company Sonic had come out with the Natura hearing aid in 1998. I checked the Sonic website and they don't even have it listed as a legacy product (in other words, something that did exist, but is no longer manufactured or supported).
You'll need to find out who the manufacturer is, and then get in touch with them and see if they can direct you to someone who works with that product. It's possible no one does, which might explain why someone would just give them to your mom. Hearing aids are typically a few thousand dollars, and are programmed to the patient's specific audio needs, which are determined with tests.
If your mom is elderly, she should see if her medicare plan (or plans if she has the add-ons) covers any portion of the devices when prescribed by an otolaryngologist (ENT guy). There are also discounts from the manufacturers available sometimes - you'd have to get in touch with them, such as Siemen's (that's what I have).
